European Green Deal Initiatives

European Green Deal Initiatives

The European Green Deal is a comprehensive strategy launched by the European Union (EU) with the goal of becoming carbon-neutral by 2050. This agreement envisions fundamental changes in various sectors, including energy, industry, agriculture, and transportation. As KOSBİ (Izmir Kemalpaşa Organized Industrial Zone), we are actively working to comply with the Green Deal and to support our industrialists in achieving their sustainability goals.

KOSBİ’s Goals for Compliance with the Green Deal

The European Green Deal requires that industrial zones make their production processes more environmentally friendly and reduce carbon emissions. KOSBİ is taking significant steps to ensure that the companies operating in our industrial zone successfully navigate this transformation:

Energy Efficiency Projects: KOSBİ places great importance on energy efficiency projects. We support the infrastructure needed for businesses to optimize their energy use and transition to renewable energy sources. This helps companies lower their energy costs and reduce their carbon footprints.

Circular Economy Practices: Reducing waste, increasing recycling rates, and ensuring resource efficiency are among KOSBİ’s top priorities. We encourage companies in our region to adopt circular economy principles by using recyclable materials in their production processes and implementing sustainable waste management solutions.

Preparation for the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM): Under the European Green Deal, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism requires companies exporting to the EU to reduce their carbon emissions. KOSBİ encourages industrialists to adopt low-carbon production techniques to comply with this regulation, allowing them to continue trading with the EU without facing additional costs.

KOSBİ’s Contributions to the Green Transformation

KOSBİ is developing various support programs to help the industrialists in our region adapt to the European Green Deal and transition to a sustainable industrial model. Key initiatives include:

Increasing the Use of Renewable Energy: KOSBİ encourages the use of renewable energy sources and supports businesses in developing projects in this area. Renewable energy solutions such as solar and wind power are helping to make energy use in the industrial zone more environmentally friendly.

Transition to Environmentally Friendly Technologies: KOSBİ promotes investments in environmentally friendly technologies for industrial facilities. These technologies not only increase energy efficiency but also minimize the environmental impact of production processes. As a result, companies reduce their carbon emissions while gaining a competitive edge.

Training and Awareness Programs: KOSBİ regularly organizes training sessions for industrialists and employees to raise awareness about the Green Deal and sustainability. These trainings provide valuable information on adopting environmentally conscious production techniques and implementing sustainable business models.

KOSBİ’s Future Vision for Sustainability

KOSBİ continues to work toward aligning with the European Green Deal and helping the industrialists in our region achieve their sustainability goals. In this context, energy efficiency projects, the use of renewable energy, and environmentally friendly production processes are promoted throughout the industrial zone. During this green transformation, KOSBİ aims to work in collaboration with industrialists to ensure both environmental and economic sustainability in the region.

The European Green Deal is an economic and environmental transformation that will meet the needs of not only today but also the future. KOSBİ plays a guiding role in this transformation process, helping companies in the region strengthen their global competitiveness.
